Electric Yellow 5cm are without a doubt the most popular African cichlid we have here in Australia, These fish are very popular among hobby keepers and are always in high demand. Electric yellows are one of the more peaceful African Cichlids and will get along well with most of their tank mates. Both males and females of the electric yellow are deep yellow in colour and develop black anal, pectoral and dorsal fins (more prominent in males as they mature).
They are originally from Lake Malawi in Tanzania, Africa.

Reproduction: Mouthbrooder: after spawning, the females incubate the eggs in their mouth until the fry are free-swimming. Males will mate with multiple females. The fry are easily raised with first foods such as baby brine shrimp Electric Yellows are native to the area between Charo and Mbowe Island in Lake Malawi, which is located in the East African Rift Valley. They inhabit rocky outcrops.As the name suggests these fish are bright yellow. They do have black lines on the dorsal and anal fins.These fish are a striking addition to any cichlid aquarium and are one of the easiest cichlids to keep!
